Cayenne Peppers

Cayenne Peppers

 I was talking to a friend of mine and he asked “Do u have any tea that will make a fat Guy skinny in a couple days? LOL”.

I sure do wish there was a tea like that and I’ll bet I’m not the only one! So I got to thinking, there are herbs that can help boost your metabolism!

There are a few herbs that boost your metabolism through thermogenesis, which means they increase your metablic rate through heat production. Ever eat something extremely spicy and you start to sweat? This is your metabolism starting to kick up!

A few of these herbs are:

  1. cayenne
  2. ginger
  3. cardamom
  4. dandelion (yes, that “weed” everyone wants to get rid of is actually good for you!)
  5. cinnamon.

If  you are low on Iodine it will effect your thyroid functions. Kelp contains iodine which will help increase your thyroid functions.  You can buy kelp granules (you can use this in a tea) or use the whole plant, I personally like to make kelp chips.

Ginseng is easy to get in your health food store and stimulated the glands that control your metabolism. Its great for a mid-day “pick-me-up” instead of coffee! You can also put nettle in your tea to get an increase in thyroid function!

If you are anything like me, you LOVE tea. So here are a few things you can add for increasing your metabolism;

  • Yerba Mate only has a small amount of caffeine and can help your metabolism as well
  • Green tea helps stimulate your metabolism with the help of antioxidants and caffeine.
  • Peppermint, oregano, rosemary and sage all have antioxidants that boost your metabolism.

Like with any weightloss plan, this is something to just add to your daily life. Weight loss is a lifestyle change, not a magic “pill” or something to be taken lightly. Just like with weight loss pills, or a lifestyle change, don’t take or do too much at once. Everything in moderation 🙂

Please be sure to check with your doctor before starting any type weight loss plan. For more information on green tea please visit here.
