Chia seeds are from South America, and were a great part of the Aztec and Mayan cultures. Many people do not know that they are part of the mint family, although you couldn’t tell by its nutty flavor. Some say that the Chia Seed is an excellent joint pain reliever and that it also helps to soothe and heal sore skin almost like peppermint.

If you are someone who juices fruits and veggies often, you can use the Chia Seeds in your juices to help increase your fiber intake. It is also an excellent substitution for some on gluten-free diets, as well as a great substitute for eggs if you are looking for a vegetarian or vegan substitute.

There are some diabetics who are also showing it has helped them to control their insulin levels. Keep in mind however, you should always seek a physicians advice before changing anything to your nutrition or exercise routine.
